China will never compromise or concede on its core interests such as national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and any force that dares to obstruct China's reunification is doomed to fail, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian on Friday.

Lin made the remarks after Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong summoned the Japanese ambassador to China, Kenji Kanasugi, on Thursday, making serious démarches over Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's provocative remarks on Taiwan, which imply the possibility of armed intervention in the Taiwan Strait.

"The root cause lies in Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's extremely wrongful, dangerous and provocative remarks on Taiwan and her refusal to change course and retract what she had said. That grossly interferes in China's internal affairs, violates international law and the basic norms of international relations, damages the post-WWII international order, contravenes the one-China principle and the guiding principles set forth in the four China-Japan political documents, disrupts the political foundations of China-Japan relations, and hurts the Chinese people's sentiments. We also noted that many politicians and people with vision in Japan raised caution and criticism," said Lin.

"China cherishes peace and values good faith. That said, when it comes to China's sovereignty, territorial integrity and any other issues concerning China's core interests, no one shall ever expect any compromise or concession from China. No one shall have the illusion that China will swallow the bitter fruit that undermines its interests. No one shall seek to challenge the bottom line of the Chinese people, for whoever try to do so will be dealt a head-on blow and find themselves on a collision course with a great wall of steel forged by over 1.4 billion Chinese people. For anyone who dare to hold back China's reunification: Failure will be their fate," the spokesman said.

The two-day 2025 Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) Conference concluded on Friday in Shanghai, where multiple globally leading "China solutions" took center stage.

Under the theme "Brain connects the world, wisdom gathers in Shanghai," the event gathered research teams from major universities, leading industry developers, and experts across the BCI sector to strengthen the connection between research, application, and policy.

As part of the event, the first BCI competition featured four categories—fatigue detection, emotion recognition, brain-controlled robotic cars, and brain-controlled robotic arms - with 40 out of nearly 100 teams from across China received prizes.

In the BCI Industry Innovation Exhibition Zone, more than a dozen frontier-tech companies presented cutting-edge technologies ranging from key components to comprehensive system-level solutions.

Exhibits spanned the entire technology chain, from underlying hardware to clinical applications, covering fields such as sleep intervention, mental illness treatment, and rehabilitation for degenerative diseases—highlighting the latest trends in BCI development.

"We completed the first domestic clinical trial this March, and next year we will launch large-scale clinical trials," said an exhibitor named Chen Yaoxu.

Shanghai has established China's first future industry cluster dedicated to BCI technologies. During the conference, several new innovation platforms—including a BCI service platform and a joint laboratory for digital neuromedicine - were inaugurated.

"We are guided by clinical needs and clinical scenarios. At the same time, we are opening high-quality EEG datasets for enterprises to support their algorithm research and guide them in developing concrete products that truly address real-world needs," said Wang Zhuoyao, BCI Project manager of Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission.
