China produced 3.97 billion tons of raw coal in the first 10 months of 2025, providing sufficient energy reserves ahead of the winter heating season, according to the China National Coal Association (CNCA).
The output marks a 1.5 percent year-on-year increase. In October alone, raw coal production reached 410 million tons, with an average daily output of 13.12 million tons, CNCA data showed.
"The overall supply and demand situation in the national coal market shows an increase in domestic production and a decline in imported coal. Demand growth is relatively weak, resulting in a relatively relaxed market supply. Coal production, transportation and consumption companies should adapt to climate change conditions and effectively coordinate coal supply and demand in a timely manner to ensure a stable supply of coal for power generation and meet the heating needs of residents," said Zhang Hong, spokesman for the CNCA.
As a cornerstone of China’s energy system, coal’s stable supply continues to underpin national energy security.
