SCS grieves over passing of fireman
The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mrs Ingrid Yeung, today (November 26) expressed deep sorrow over the passing of fireman, Mr Ho Wai-ho, who died while tackling the fire in Wang Fuk Court, Tai Po.
"I pay solemn tribute to Mr Ho for his gallantry and selfless devotion to duty, and express the deepest condolences to his family on behalf of the Civil Service. The Civil Service Bureau has contacted the Fire Services Department and will make every effort to help the family of Mr Ho during this sad and difficult period," said Mrs Yeung.
She also sent her regards to the families of others who died in the fire and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Sick person in custody dies in public hospital
A sick 70-year-old male person in custody at Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre died in a public hospital today (January 16).
The person in custody suffered from hypertension. He required continuous medical care and follow-ups at the institution hospital and public hospitals. On January 4, he was sent to a public hospital for treatment due to physical discomfort. During hospitalisation, his condition deteriorated and he was certified dead at 12.34pm today.
The case has been reported to the Police. A death inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.
The person in custody was convicted for the offence of manslaughter and was detained under a hospital order for psychiatric treatment in 2002.
