EDB to launch new round of E-APP applications tomorrow

The Education Bureau (EDB) will launch a new round of applications under the Electronic Advance Application System for Post-secondary Programmes (E-APP) (www.eapp.gov.hk) tomorrow (December 4) to enable current Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination candidates to make advance applications for full-time locally accredited sub-degree and undergraduate programmes that are not covered under the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) for the 2026/27 academic year (including sub-degree programmes under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors and most of the eligible programmes under the Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong). Around 30 post-secondary institutions and their subsidiaries will take part in the new round of the E-APP.

The E-APP is a free electronic application platform. Applicants may complete one application via the E-APP to apply for most post-secondary programmes that are not covered under JUPAS. Relevant institutions will process applications from the E-APP as early as possible and may give eligible candidates conditional offers before the announcement of HKDSE Examination results.

The main round of E-APP applications will run from tomorrow until May 19, 2026, and the second round of applications will last from May 22 to July 6, 2026. In general, institutions will first process applications received in the main round.

"Before applying via the E-APP, students may watch the tutorial videos on the application procedure on the E-APP website, and browse the Concourse for Self-financing Post-secondary Education website (Concourse) (www.cspe.edu.hk) which provides information on post-secondary institutions and details of about 460 full-time locally accredited Higher Diploma, Associate Degree and undergraduate programmes that are not covered under JUPAS, including their tuition fees, entry requirements, and accreditation and recognition by relevant professional bodies.Institutions' estimated numbers of intake places, their application and admission arrangements for the 2026/27 academic year as well as their past admission scores and graduate statistics will also be uploaded onto the Concourse," a spokesman for the EDB said.

The Concourse will also provide information on full-time University Grants Committee-funded undergraduate programmes offering senior year places, and self-financing top-up degree programmes in the 2026/27 academic year to help graduates and students of sub-degree programmes plan their further studies.

Hong Kong Customs seizes turtles of suspected scheduled endangered species

Hong Kong Customs today (May 29) seized 153 turtles of suspected scheduled endangered species at the Shenzhen Bay Control Point, with a total estimated market value of about $1.58 million.

Through risk assessment, Customs today intercepted an incoming lorry at the control point. After inspection, Customs officers found the batch of turtles of suspected scheduled endangered species concealed in the socks inside the paper boxes.

The batch of turtles was handed over to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department for follow-up action.

Under the Protection of Endangered Species of Animals and Plants Ordinance (Cap. 586), any person importing, exporting or possessing specimens of endangered species not in accordance with the Ordinance commits an offence and will be liable to a maximum fine of $10 million and imprisonment for 10 years upon conviction with the specimens forfeited.

Members of the public may report any suspected smuggling activities to Customs' 24-hour hotline 182 8080 or its dedicated crime-reporting email account (crimereport@customs.gov.hk) or online form (eform.cefs.gov.hk/form/ced002).
