U.S. e-commerce giant Amazon announced its plan to set up its first Global Warehousing and Distribution (GWD) facility in the tech hub of Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, in efforts to deliver Chinese products to global buyers faster.

The announcement was made on Thursday when the four-day 2025 Amazon Global Selling Cross-Border Summit opened in Hangzhou City, east China's Zhejiang Province.

The GWD, Amazon's new one-stop global logistics solution, will help sellers significantly reduce logistics costs.

The GWD facility in Shenzhen, set to open to Chinese sellers in March 2026, will enable Chinese sellers to ship their goods to the Shenzhen warehouse to access a one-stop service encompassing warehousing, customs clearance, cross-border transportation, and global distribution.

During the summit, Amazon set up multiple exhibition zones in the Hangzhou International Expo Center, displaying surfboards, palm-sized vlogging drones capable of vertical takeoff and landing, laser engravers, and other independently developed products from Chinese sellers.

"What's really interesting is that what started maybe 10 years ago with Chinese sellers reselling existing products has changed. The sellers [are] now building and creating and innovating with new products, as if we've switched from a world of resellers to a world of innovators and brand owners," said Amazon Vice President Eric Broussard.

Chinese sellers on Amazon posted strong gains in the first 10 months of 2025, with sales up more than 15 percent in the U.S. and Europe and over 30 percent in emerging markets.

"And the number of [Chinese] sellers doing more than 10 million dollars a year, increases by a whopping 30 percent, really demonstrating the contribution the sellers are making," Broussard said.

According to the head of a smart gamepad company, during this year's Black Friday shopping season, the company's sales on Amazon experienced explosive growth, with annual performance expected to double.

"During this year's Black Friday sales season, our overseas sales saw a year-on-year increase exceeding 400 percent. In regions like Spain within Europe, sales achieved over 700 percent growth. South American markets such as Brazil also recorded overall growth surpassing 500 percent," said Lian You, Chinese cross-border e-commerce seller.

Thousands of Iranians attended a funeral on Tuesday to mourn 165 students killed in Saturday's U.S.-Israeli strikes on a school in the city of Minab.

While Iran condemned Israel for the attacks, Israel said it was not aware of the strike on the school.

Joint military strikes launched by the U.S. and Israel on Iran on Saturday morning have triggered a sharp escalation across the Middle East in recent days, setting off waves of missile exchanges, mounting casualties, and far-reaching political and security repercussions.

Israel continued its strikes on Tehran, with Iran's state media putting the death toll from the past four days of joint U.S.-Israeli attacks at 787 as of Tuesday.

Iran has carried out more retaliatory strikes across the Middle East, including on targets in Israel, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the Strait of Hormuz is now closed, and warned that any vessels attempting to pass through will be targeted.

U.S. President Donald Trump told the New York Times on Sunday that the conflict with Iran could continue for more than a month.
