Chinese shares close lower Monday

Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.55 percent to 3,867.92 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.1 percent lower at 13,112.09 points.

The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.77 trillion yuan (about 250.51 billion U.S. dollars), down from 2.09 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Shares related to glass, food, and chemical fibers led the gains, while ceramics and textile machinery sectors suffered major losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.77 percent to close at 3,137.8 points Monday.

China's 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games concluded on Monday in Shenzhen City of south China's Guangdong Province.

State Councilor Shen Yiqin declared the Games closed.

It was the first time that the two Games have been co-hosted in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It was also the second time that both Games took place in the same city and year as the National Games.

Held from December 8 to 15, the Games featured 46 sports, with 7,824 athletes from 34 delegations competing. 15 world records and 156 national records were broken during the Games.

China's 13th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 10th National Special Olympic Games will be hosted by Hunan Province in 2029.
