China will continue to provide more stability and certainty to the world through opening up and cooperation, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press briefing in Beijing on Monday.

Lin made the remarks when commenting on a latest global survey on people's impression and understanding of China.

The survey, released by Global Times on Monday, covered 46 countries with a focus on how foreign public perceives, understands and evaluates China. According to the survey findings, global public opinion holds favorable view of China and looks forward to a bigger role of China.

"China's development is now increasingly interconnected with the world. China's image in the world receives great attention. We noted that according to the survey, there has been a positive outlook on China's economic growth in the international community, great interest in China's culture and technologies, expectation of China's involvement in international affairs and its reform and improvement of global governance, and hope that their country will have friendlier relations with China," said Lin.

"We also noted that this year, surveys of several international polling organizations show that an increasing number of people around the world have greater interest, better impression and more approval towards China. These survey results reflect the world's full recognition of China's development achievements, governance capability, open spirit and cooperation vision. They also reflect countries' hope for China to deeply participate in international affairs and lead global governance," said the spokesman.

"Amid the complex and evolving international situation, it is all the more valuable that China and the world engage in sound interactions and that the Chinese people and people of other countries have closer understanding of each other. We will continue to provide more stability and certainty to the world with greater confidence in opening to the world, sincere readiness to share development opportunities, and a sense of responsibility for leading global governance. Together China and countries in the world will write a new chapter of mutual success," he said.

China's top political advisor Wang Huning has met with delegates attending a national congress of the Buddhist Association of China from Sunday to Monday in Beijing.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, stressed the importance of implementing the Party's basic policy on religious affairs and guiding Buddhist figures and believers to contribute to the country's modernization drive.

Wang urged the association to exercise full and rigorous governance over the religion, intensify efforts to raise awareness of the rule of law, and guide monastics to abide by the law, uphold monastic rules and precepts, and maintain the right faith and conduct.

He encouraged the association to cultivate talent proficient in both the canonical teachings and fine traditional Chinese culture, and to expand exchanges with the wider world on Buddhism.

At its 11th national congress, the association adopted a revised charter and a set of religious rules and regulations, and elected a new leadership for the association.
