The Chinese delegation for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics, which is scheduled for March 6 to 15, was set up in Beijing on Friday.

The delegation consists of 167 members, including 70 athletes who are all amateurs. They are workers, students, office clerks, and freelances in their daily life.

The athletes are aged from 18 to 40, averaging 27 years old. Six-two of them participated in Paralympics before.

"While preparing for the Paralympics, we care to take in very nutritional food and have good rest, along with some psychological and living skill studies. We are always ready for the event so that we can compete in the Paralympics in our best and most energetic shape," said Ji Lijia, an athlete of the delegation.

"I hope that all members of our delegation will try our utmost to achieve the best results, and continue to win honors for our country," said Guo Yujie, another athlete.

"We are now well-prepared and will surely demonstrate the spirit and demeanor of Chinese Paralympians. Our team is young and full of vigor. We also represent 85 million people with disabilities. We hope that our state and spirit can inspire more people with disabilities to participate in sports," said athlete Liu Sitong.

The Milan-Cortina Winter Paralympics will consist of 79 medal events across six sports -- Para alpine skiing, Para biathlon, Para cross-country skiing, Para ice hockey, Para snowboard and wheelchair curling. More than 600 athletes from 52 countries and regions will participate in the competitions.

The Chinese delegation will compete in 71 events across the six sports. The Winter Paralympics will see the largest number of Chinese athletes participate in the most events overseas.

It is unfair, unreasonable and unfeasible to demand China to join nuclear disarmament negotiations with Russia and the United States at the current stage, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning at a press briefing in Beijing on Friday.

She made the statement in response to a media query on U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's Thursday remarks on this issue.

"China has made its position clear on this matter on multiple occasions. As a country with a massive nuclear arsenal, the United States bears a special and primary responsibility to earnestly advance nuclear disarmament, which represents the broad consensus of the international community. China's nuclear forces are not in the same league as those of the U.S. and Russia. At the current stage, it is unfair, unreasonable, and unfeasible to demand China participate in so-called trilateral nuclear disarmament negotiations among China, the U.S., and Russia," she said.
