President of Seychelles Patrick Herminie has voiced strong support for China's Africa policy and a range of global initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, stressing that they closely align with his country's commitment to mutual respect and inclusive development.
In an interview with China Media Group (CMG), Herminie shared his insights on the principles of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith that guide China's Africa policy.
"It fits very well with our own policy. We believe in mutual respect, mutual benefits, international cooperation, peace, and an outcome that is good for everybody. So we fully support this initiative by President Xi," he said.
When asked how China's people-centered development philosophy resonates with his own vision of leadership, Herminie drew a direct connection.
"People-centered development can really bring fairness and justice, social justice to a society. So we fully support the initiative and the idea of President Xi that whatever development we have, it's not for a few but for the many," said Herminie.
Herminie also offered strong backing for a series of China-proposed global frameworks, including the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, Global Governance Initiative and the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Together, these initiatives outline China's blueprint for addressing global challenges, promoting sustainable growth, cooperative security, dialogue among civilizations, fairer governance, and deeper international solidarity.
"I think these initiatives are very important because they are trying to tackle emerging issues and emerging problems. And I agree with it because it calls for collaboration over confrontation, unity over division, and mutual benefit over zero-sum thinking. So as long as it benefits the whole world, then yes, they should be encouraged, they should be respected and appreciated," he said.
The president's comments reflect the growing appeal of China's global vision among developing nations and underscore the deepening partnership between China and Seychelles.
