The Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities' attempts to expand their so-called "international space" are doomed to fail, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.

Guo was responding to a media query about the DPP authorities' attempts to use economic and trade activities as a pretext to expand the so-called "international space."

"The DPP authorities are accustomed to using economic and trade investment as a pretext to engage in 'Taiwan independence' separatist activities and to expand so-called 'international space.' Their intentions are malicious and destined to fail," said Guo.

"The DPP's despicable tricks cannot change the historical and legal fact that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, nor can they shake the international community's firm commitment to the one-China principle. These actions will not stop the historic process of achieving complete national reunification," he said.
