Meanwhile, the Jockey Club Student Drawing Competition held today has attracted approximately 2 200 students who immersed themselves in drawing the flowers and plants at various scenic spots.

This year's HKFS showcases major landscape displays themed around Hong Kong's local characteristics. With vibrant blooms and ingenious designs, these displays vividly recreatethe unique attractions and urban landscapes of Hong Kong's various districts. Located at the Hing Fat Street entrance is the "Urban and Rural Charm" garden weaving together attractions of the New Territories such as the Tsui Sing Lau Pagoda, the Wishing Tree, the Railway Museum and more. After appreciating these featured spots, visitors will step into the "Landscape Triptych" display presenting the diverse expressions of natural landscapes. These include ground plantings designed to evoke the rippling water of the Shing Mun River, an ecological pond of the Hong Kong Wetland Park and the striking hexagonal rock columns of the Hong Kong Geopark. The garden, "A Taste of Hong Kong", integrates Hong Kong's famed classic delicacies such as bamboo steamers of dim sum, egg tarts, pineapple buns and milk tea amid a stunning floral landscape. Another landscape, "Floral Trail of the Island", showcases the unique charm of Hong Kong Island. In addition to the Hong Kong Observation Wheel, visitors can take photos with the Tai Hang Fire Dragon, a racehorse, and a cute yellow duck on the beach.

Another major landscape display, "Kowloon Silhouettes in Bloom", starts from the Sugar Street entrance, with the Lion Rock rising prominently at its centre. This garden plot brings together a series of iconic Kowloon landmarks including the Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower, Choi Hung Estate and its playground, the Kowloon Walled City, Temple Street, Goldfish Street and Bird Street to reveal the district's rich and diverse character. The garden, "Outlying Islands Cultural Heritage Journey", is also not to be missed, in which visitors can wander through Tai O's stilt houses, the Ngong Ping cable car and Cheung Chau's bun tower, and at the same time take photos with Chinese white dolphins frolicking in the sea.

Other attractions include a colourful sea of over 14 000 tulips, a vibrant three-dimensional theme flower wall, an exhibition of rare and precious plants, a thoughtfully arranged indoor garden, "Café de Fleurs", and more. Meanwhile, a Hong Kong intangible cultural heritage exhibition, "Hands that Bloom", is being held at the Central Lawn featuring exquisitely crafted paper floral lanterns.

The large-scale landscape installations from Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Hengqin, Shenzhen, Suzhou and Macao showcase characteristics of different places. In addition, the Development Bureau, Architectural Services Department, Civil Engineering and Development Department, Correctional Services Department, Drainage Services Department, Environmental Protection Department, Highways Department and Housing Department, together with Ocean Park Hong Kong, will also participate in the flower show and present displays of unique features.

Mascots from various government departments will also make appearances tomorrow (March 21) from 2.30pm to 5pm at the three-dimensional theme flower wall and Central Lawn, creating photo opportunities and interacting with members of the public. In addition, a Ponies Photo Booth will be set up tomorrow and next Saturday (March 28) from 1pm to 5pm at the Central Lawn for visitors to take photos with Shetland ponies, offering a delightful family-friendly experience.

The HKFS is also hosting an online voting campaign called My Most Favourite Garden Plot, inviting the public to vote for their favourite from the garden plots of the 18 districts, with a chance to win free supermarket vouchers.

This year, the HKFS continues its environmental protection measures. Waste separation bins and recyclables collection points are available at the showground to collect carton boxes, plastic flower pots, glass bottles, wilted flowers, soil, and more. To support environmental protection, visitors are encouraged to bring their own water bottles and green shopping bags.

Additionally, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will hold a Green Recycling Day after the flower show to reinforce green measures and reduce waste. Volunteers will assist in sorting and collecting recyclables at the showground. Flowers and plants suitable for replanting will be distributed to schools, environmental groups, non-governmental organisations, and members of the public.

The HKFS is organised by the LCSD. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has supported the flower show since 2013 and has been its major sponsor since 2014.

The HKFS is running until March 29, from 9am to 9pm daily. For more details of the event and its admission fee arrangements, please visit the event webpage www.hkflowershow.hk/en/hkfs/2026/index.html or call the enquiry hotline at 2601 8260.

Hong Kong Customs special operation combats sale of counterfeit hard disks and memory cards by computer storage device distributor

Hong Kong Customs mounted a special enforcement operation yesterday (March 19) in Tuen Mun to combat the sale of counterfeit computer storage devices by a computer storage device distributor, and seized about 17 000 items of suspected counterfeit computer storage devices, including about14 000 pieces of hard disks and about3 000 pieces of memory cards, with a total estimated market value of about $25 million. One person was arrested.

Customs earlier received information from the trademark owner representative, alleging that a computer storage device distributor was offering counterfeit computer storage devices for sale in the market. After a comprehensive investigation and with the assistance of the trademark owner, Customs officers took enforcement action yesterday and searched an industrial unit in Tuen Mun. Upon a follow-up investigation, another industrial unit in the same building was searched. A 42-year-old man was arrested and the batch of suspected counterfeit computer storage devices, and materials and tools for packing were seized.

The arrested person has been detained for investigation. The investigation is ongoing and the likelihood of further arrests is not ruled out.

Customs will continue to step up inspections and enforcement to vigorously combat the sale of different kinds of counterfeit goods.

Customs reminds consumers to procure goods at reputable shops and check with the trademark owners or their authorised agents if the authenticity of a product is in doubt. Traders should also be cautious and prudent in merchandising since selling counterfeit goods is a serious crime and offenders are liable to criminal sanctions.

Under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, any person who sells or possesses for sale any goods with a forged trademark commits an offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $500,000 and imprisonment for five years.

Members of the public may report any suspected counterfeiting activities to Customs' 24-hour hotline 182 8080 or its dedicated crime-reporting email account (crimereport@customs.gov.hk) or online form (eform.cefs.gov.hk/form/ced002/).
