Netizens' Wish for Shu Qi's Endorsement Finally Comes True
When Xiaomi launched its first-generation SU7 in 2024, netizens quickly spotted a delightful coincidence: the product name "SU7" bears a phonetic resemblance to the name of actress Ms. Shu Qi. The hashtag #SU7ShuQi# soon went viral, with fans playfully urging Mr. Lei Jun to "invite Shu Qi as the endorser!" What began as an inside joke among netizens quickly evolved into what many referred to as an "online wish" made by the public.

Two years later, on the eve of the new-generation SU7 launch, Mr. Lei Jun finally addressed the long-standing call. "The suggestion netizens made two years ago has finally come true today," he revealed. Ms. Shu Qi also shared in a video response: "Thanks to the name SU7 for bringing me this collaboration opportunity." Netizens have since dubbed the endorsement a classic case of "a wishing well coming true", revealing the co-creation between fans and the brand.
Su Bingtian: Performance and Speed, Shu Qi: Quality and Composure
Of course, it would be too hasty to collaborate solely based on name similarity. Xiaomi chose Ms. Shu Qi primarily because her personal image aligns perfectly with the SU7's positioning. Shu Qi described the new-generation SU7 as "good-looking, quiet, and smart," adding that it gave her "a long-lost sense of relaxation and composure." These qualities map to the new SU7's core selling points: elegant design, quiet NVH performance, and cutting-edge intelligent technology.
Two days before Xiaomi's official announcement of Ms. Shu Qi's endorsement on March 17, the brand also unveiled the sprint star Mr. Su Bingtian as a brand ambassador. Representing "Asian Speed," Mr. Su is a first-generation SU7 owner and also shares the surname "Su." Together, the two ambassadors formed a dream combination of "Double SU"—with Su Bingtian embodying performance and speed, and Shu Qi representing quality and composure—aiming to appeal to a broader user base.

Mr. Lei Jun humorously explained the reason behind choosing Su Bingtian as the brand ambassador: "Because he is the fastest man in Asia, because he is a first-generation SU7 owner, and because his surname is Su." At the launch event, Mr. Su Bingtian, speaking as an actual car owner of the first-generation SU7, praised the new-generation SU7, highlighting its "strong chassis, stable core, and precise control."
Three Self-Developed Large Models Released
Meanwhile, Xiaomi's AI technology was another highlight of the launch. The group unveiled three self-developed large models, including the flagship base model Xiaomi MiMo-V2-Pro, which boasts trillions of parameters. The model ranked eighth globally in the authoritative ranking Artificial Analysis and secured fifth place among brand-ranked models, surpassing xAI's Grok. Mr. Lei Jun stated that over the next three years, Xiaomi plans to invest at least 60 billion RMB in areas such as large-scale models, embodied intelligence, and AI applications, etc. This year alone, the group's R&D and capital expenditure in related fields have already exceeded 16 billion RMB.
