Officiating at the ceremony, the Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung, said Hong Kong's strategic importance as an aviation gateway continues to grow as we deepen our integration with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. He pointed out that the academy arrives at precisely the right moment, grooming dedicated professionals to maintain Hong Kong's competitive edge, further excel Hong Kong public aviation service, while contributing to the broader development of our nation's aviation capabilities.

The academy connects the youth with the aviation industry through the GFS's professional resources and operational expertise. Welcoming the audience, the Controller of the GFS, Captain Eddie Liu, said that GAIIA bridges the gap between academic knowledge and real-world expertise, offering students exposure to search and rescue, emergency medical services, hill firefighting, law enforcement support, etc.

The GFS has received more than 12 000 youth visitors since 2022. The GAIIA expands these efforts through providing specialised training programmes to the youth and enabling local and international participants to recognise the GFS's professional strength and critical role in emergency aviation services, deepening their understanding of Hong Kong's aviation emergency services.

Other officiating guests included representatives from City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Lingnan University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Education University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the University of Hong Kong.

Application procedure for Certificate of No Criminal Conviction to be further enhanced from tomorrow

The issuance service of the Certificate of No Criminal Conviction (CNCC) by the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) will be further enhanced starting from tomorrow (March 30). Eligible applicants may complete the application procedure without the need to submit fingerprints. The new measure aligns with the commitment to “Continue to Enhance Digital Applications” as outlined in “The Chief Executive’s 2025 Policy Address”, aiming to provide the public with higher quality and more convenient services.

The issuance of the CNCC is a charged service provided by the HKPF, solely for the purpose of applications for various types of visas (such as visit, student or resident visas) or for adoption of children. Currently, all applicants may utilise the HKPF Online Applications Platform (www.es.police.gov.hk) to submit applications, settle application fees, schedule appointments for fingerprinting at the CNCC Office or nine designated police stations, as well as check their application status.

Starting from tomorrow, applicants who meet the following conditions may complete the application procedure without submitting fingerprints:

- submitting the application via the HKPF Online Applications Platform using “iAM Smart” account; and

- the purpose of application is not related to matters concerning children or mentally incapacitated persons (e.g. child adoption).

Under special circumstances, applicants who meet the above listed conditions may still be required to submit fingerprints at relevant locations.

Following the implementation of the new measure, the processing time for applications meeting the listed conditions will be reduced from 28 days to 15 days. For details regarding the new measure and application, please visit the HKPF website (www.police.gov.hk/ppp_en/11_useful_info/cert_no_crime.html).
