China’s Ministry of Commerce will support the construction of industrial parks and other platforms for the gradual transfer of processing trade, said He Yadong, spokesman of the ministry, on Thursday at a press conference in Beijing.
He said that the ministry will guide local governments nationwide to develop high-quality, tiered transfer platforms such as industrial parks, based on their specific circumstances, to promote the sustained and healthy development of processing trade.
"Recently, the Ministry of Commerce organized the development projects for the second batch of national processing trade industrial parks. Thirteen industrial parks were confirmed, of which four are located in central China, seven in western China, and two in northeastern China. This is an important measure to continuously guide the gradual transfer of processing trade and promote coordinated regional development," he said.
The gradual transfer of processing trade refers to the process by which processing trade industries migrate from the eastern coastal areas of China to the central, western regions or the northeastern region due to factors such as rising costs and industrial upgrading.
China is accelerating the construction of specialized, high-standard processing trade industrial parks and cross-border e-commerce zones to boost trade. These parks support high-quality development through advanced infrastructure, with notable projects including the new Dandong Cross-Border Trade Import Processing Industrial Park, aimed at enhancing onshore processing of imported goods.
