The death toll in the war-torn Gaza Strip has risen to 72,568 since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted on Oct 7, 2023, with injuries reaching at 172,338, Gaza's health authorities said on Thursday.

The authorities reported that six bodies and 18 wounded people were brought to hospitals in Gaza over the last 24 hours.

According to the Palestinian newspaper Al-Quds, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched an attack in central Gaza Strip on Thursday, resulting in three deaths and multiple injuries. Additionally, Israeli forces attacked Beit Lahia in northern Gaza on Wednesday evening, causing five deaths, including three children, and wounding many others.

Hamas on Thursday accused the U.S.-led "Board of Peace" of failing to compel Israel to halt violations of humanitarian law in Gaza, after the five Palestinians were killed.

In a statement, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said the incident "reveals the increasing failure" of the body to force Israel to stop violations or meet its obligations under existing agreements, calling it further evidence of a continuing "war of extermination". He urged mediators, ceasefire guarantors and board participants to take responsibility and pressure Israel to halt its military actions.

The IDF reported on Thursday that several Hamas militants were killed in both northern and southern Gaza in the past day, claiming that the militants' actions posed a security threat.
