Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy, who replaced fired manager Alex Cora last weekend, got the victory in his first Fenway Park game.
Carlos Correa homered into the Green Monster seats and had three hits for Houston, which has lost five of its last seven games.
Bennett (1-0), a 25-year-old left-hander who was called up from Triple-A Worcester, gave up a run on five hits, striking out three and walking two. He fanned slugger Yordan Alvarez for his first big-league strikeout in the first inning.
Aroldis Chapman, the fourth reliever, got the final three outs for his sixth save, and 373rd of his career.
Astros starter Mike Burrows (1-4) gave up eight hits and three runs over six innings.
Duran homered over Boston’s bullpen, making it 3-1 in the third after Correa’s homer in the top half.
While the teams were taking batting practice, a small plane flew around Fenway pulling a banner imploring the Red Sox to fire chief baseball officer Craig Breslow and owner John Henry to sell the team.
The Astros swept the Red Sox in a three-game series in Houston during the first week of the season.

MONTREAL (AP) — The Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens went to overtime scoreless Friday night in Game 6 of their first-round series.
Montreal leads the series 3-2. Game 7, if necessary, will be Sunday in Tampa.
The Lightning are trying to avoid a fourth consecutive first-round exit, while the Canadiens are chasing their first series victory in five years.
Andrei Vasilevskiy made 26 saves in regulation for Tampa Bay, and Jakub Dobes stopped 28 shots for Montreal. The first three games of the series also went to overtime.
Dobes and the Canadiens survived a flurry of shots on a late power play. The Lightning got the man advantage after Ivan Demidov broke in on Vasilevskiy, failed to score and was called for goalie interference.
The game is the second in three days to go to overtime scoreless, with Philadelphia beating Pittsburgh 1-0 on Wednesday night to end that series in six games. Before the season, the last 0-0 playoff game in regulation was in 2021.
Late in the second — with the Lightning’s Charle-Edouard D’Astous off for slashing Phillip Danault — Vasilevskiy stopped Demidov twice from close range.
Tampa Bay had a power-play chance early in the third after Kaiden Guhle was called for slashing Jake Guentzel. On the Lightning’s best chance, Nikita Kucherov fired a shot off the post.
Montreal had only one shot on goal on a power play to start the second period with Guentzel off for high-sticking Guhle with 11 seconds left in the first.
Danault kept it scoreless a few minutes later when he swept the puck away before it could cross the goal line. Montreal then killed Alexandre Texier’s high-sticking penalty.
