China on Monday urges international organizations to handled Taiwan-related issues in line with the one-China principle, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a press briefing in Beijing.
Guo made the statement in response to a media query on an official from China's Taiwan authorities who has arrived in Geneva for events on the sidelines of a World Health Organization (WHO) meeting.
"We have already made clear China's solemn position. There is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. The government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China. When international organizations such as the World Health Organization handle Taiwan-related issues, they must do so in accordance with the one-China principle. This is also the fundamental principle affirmed by UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 and World Health Assembly Resolution 25.1," said Guo.
China has always firmly opposed any form of official interactions between China's diplomatic partners and China's Taiwan region, and firmly opposed providing any platform for separatist activities seeking Taiwan secession. The Taiwan authorities' attempt to send people to various occasions to 'gatecrash' meetings and seek a sense of presence is nothing but a farce, which will only humiliate themselves and is doomed to fail," the spokesman continued.
