Xi Zhongxun, a Chinese revolutionary leader, devoted his entire life to the people, staying true forever to the fundamental purpose of the Communist Party of China (CPC) of serving the people wholeheartedly.
Xi Zhongxun (1913-2002), father of Chinese President Xi Jinping, had served as China's vice premier and vice chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee.
China Media Group (CMG) produced a six-episode documentary to honor the late revolutionary leader, portraying him as a leader who came from and stood with the people, and who remained a loyal servant of the people.
When Xi Zhongxun served as the Party chief of Suide County in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, he once famously said: "We must wholeheartedly and honestly work for the interests of the people, and sit upright on the side of the people." The quote vividly encapsulated the spirit of his lifelong commitment to serving the people.
"When Xi Zhongxun engaged in the revolution work, he did not see himself as a cadre; rather, he regarded himself as an ordinary member of the public. In doing the work of rallying and serving the general public, he went from one village to another, and visited households one by one. That's how he worked. And that is why he is considered a people's leader," said Qi Xin, Xi Zhongxun's wife.
In his profile, Xi Zhongxun was portrayed as a man of the people. Records show that he was loved by both the young and the old. People trusted him and considered him to be one of them. And whenever people had difficulties, they always turned to Xi Zhongxun for help.
Throughout his revolutionary career, Xi Zhongxun remained faithful to his original aspiration, seeing as his greatest responsibility to serve the people loyally.
"The country is its people; the people are the country," these words echoed throughout his life.
