Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic encouraged Chinese youth to appreciate their nation's achievements and take pride in their leadership in a speech at Tsinghua University in Beijing on Tuesday.
During his visit to Tsinghua University, Vucic delivered a speech to the students, sharing his perspectives on global affairs and the evolving international order.
He also spoke about what he described as long-standing Western misconceptions about China, saying many past predictions about China's future challenges had ultimately failed to materialize.
He cautioned young people against taking China's progress for granted.
"Don't take today's peace, stability, and good life better than ever here in China as granted. And it's about your leadership, just for you to know, and it's always about your leadership," said Vucic.
Following the speech, students of Tsinghua University asked President Vucic a range of questions on international affairs and global challenges.
Vucic praised China's approach to diplomacy, saying the nation has been able to maintain ties with major countries while continuing to support smaller nations such as Serbia.
The Serbian president also talked about his impressions of Chinese students and universities, saying he was deeply impressed by the students' discipline, strong work ethic, and commitment to their studies.
At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Vucic is on his state visit to China from Sunday to Thursday. This is his first state visit to China and his ninth trip to the nation overall.
