The Israeli air force launched airstrikes in Beirut's southern suburb in Lebanon on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a statement on the day.
According to the statement, the strikes were in response to “Hezbollah's firing at Israeli territory”.
Local media reported that the Israeli airstrikes in Beirut targeted two apartments in two buildings. The attack reportedly caused casualties.
Israel and Lebanon agreed on June 3 to implement a ceasefire, according to a joint statement issued by the two countries and the United States that day.
The ceasefire is contingent on a complete cessation of Hezbollah fire and the evacuation of all Hezbollah operatives from the South Litani Sector.
Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said on June 4 that the ceasefire must include the entire Lebanon, and that resistance against Israel will continue as long as the occupation of Lebanese territory persists.
The Public Health Emergency Operations Center of Lebanon’s Health Ministry said on Sunday that Israeli attacks on Lebanon had killed 3,613 people and injured 11,072 others since fighting between Israel and Hezbollah resumed on March 2. It was not immediately clear whether the figures included casualties from the latest attack on Sunday.
