The gross ocean product (GOP) of south China's Guangdong Province hit a record 2.04 trillion yuan (around 301.52 billion U.S. dollars) in 2025, marking an increase of 4.4 percent from the previous year, according to the province's statistics released on Monday.

This figure accounted for 18.6 percent of the national total, and Guangdong has maintained the number one ranking nationwide for 31 consecutive years, solidifying its leading position in China's marine economy.

The provincial statistics showed that 15 major marine industries collectively generated added value of 830.38 billion yuan. Nine of these industries ranked among the top three in the country by scale. Three sectors -- seawater desalination and comprehensive utilization, marine transportation, and marine tourism -- ranked first nationally.

The Hukou Waterfall on China's Yellow River has since earlier this month become what appears to be a two-tone river section where separate surging streams of clear and muddy waters are flowing down side by side, creating a stunning view.

The "half-clear and half-turbid" scenery draws crowds of visitors to the waterfall, which is located on the border between Jixian County of north China's Shanxi Province and Yichuan County of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

The landscape was formed amid combined effects of local hydrological environment and weather conditions including heavy rainfall in the upper reaches.

The Hukou Waterfall is the second largest waterfall in China and the largest on the legendary Yellow River.
