Senior Chinese legislator urges enhanced China-Russia educational cooperation

Li Hongzhong, chairman of the Chinese side of the China-Russia Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development, attended the opening ceremony of the China-Russia friendly language dialogue and met with his Russian counterpart Boris Titov at Renmin University of China in Beijing on Tuesday.

Li, also vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said the prospects for China-Russia educational cooperation are broad and promising.

Li noted that as a major channel for bilateral people-to-people exchanges, the committee will implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state. Taking the China-Russia Years of Education as an opportunity and using language and culture as a bond, it should expand exchanges and mutual learning, deepen practical cooperation, further strengthen China-Russia friendship and enrich the content of China-Russia relations, he added.

Titov stated that the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era stands at a historic high. He said language and cultural exchanges help deepen friendship and boost practical cooperation, with more students on both sides learning each other's languages. Russia is willing to work with China to promote cooperation in education, language, local governance, economy and trade, artificial intelligence and other areas, Titov said.

Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin paid a visit to Bulgaria from Saturday to Monday, during which she met respectively with Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova and Prime Minister Rumen Radev, and held talks with Deputy Prime Minister Galab Donev.

During the meetings, Shen gave a brief account of China's achievements in economic and social development, as well as livelihood priorities listed in China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).

China highly values the development of China-Bulgaria relations and is willing to intensify exchanges and cooperation with Bulgaria across various fields, including politics, economy, people's livelihood and culture, strengthen multilateral dialogue and coordination, and push for greater development of the China-Bulgaria strategic partnership, Shen said.

Speaking highly of Bulgaria-China relations, the Bulgarian leaders said that there is great potential for bilateral cooperation in various fields, and that the Bulgarian side is ready to work with China to further enrich the bilateral strategic partnership and yield more fruits in mutually beneficial cooperation.

During her visit, Shen and Donev jointly witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on inter-departmental cooperation between the Chinese Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Bulgarian Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.

Shen also learned about the situation of vocational skills training in Bulgaria.
