China supports Thailand in trying and severely punishing those responsible for the 2015 Bangkok bombing in accordance with the law, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press briefing in Beijing on Thursday.

A Thai court has sentenced two men to death for the fatal blast at the Erawan Shrine in downtown Bangkok on Aug 17, 2015, which killed 20, including seven Chinese nationals.

"We have noted the Thai side's ruling of the relevant case. The terrorist bombing that year caused the deaths of 20 people, including seven Chinese citizens, and left more than 100 others injured. The perpetrators were utterly inhuman and committed heinous crimes. China supports Thailand in trying the case in accordance with the law and severely punishing the perpetrators," Lin said.
