A young boy in northern Italy has gone viral online, using social media to teach Chinese to tens of thousands of people worldwide.

Eleven-year-old Li Yuchen, known online as "Prof Leo", is an influencer with around 100,000 followers.

Moving from China to Italy with his family eight years ago, Li said he hopes to spread joy and positivity while celebrating both his Chinese heritage and his life in Italy.

"At first, I thought it was just for fun because lots of people asked me to teach them Chinese. But when I suddenly gained so many followers, I felt a big responsibility," he said.

Li started posting short Chinese language lessons online two months ago.

From his home to the local playground and piazza, Li turns everyday places into a classroom, with his siblings and friends acting as helpers.

Behind the scenes, Li's biggest supporter is his father, who also works as director and cameraman.

"I never expected these videos to become so popular. Now that he has so many followers, I hope he can keep spreading his positive energy and inspiring others," said Li's father.

The family now lives in the town of Montebelluna, where Li has become a well-known local face.

"I'm happy. I like it when people say hello and sometimes ask for a photo," said Li.

For Li, the videos are about more than language; they're a chance to share Chinese culture, while also celebrating everyday life in Italy.

"Italians are very kind and warm. That's why I have lots of friends and they treat me really well," said Li.

And despite the growing attention, Li is determined to stay grounded.

"My parents tell me to stay humble, grateful, kind and respectful and to never forget my initial goal," he said.
