Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Beijing on Friday, and the two leaders jointly announced the building of a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era to bring bilateral relations to a higher level.

In their meeting, Xi said China has always attached great importance to developing relations with Bangladesh and adhered to the policy of good neighborliness and friendship with all the people of Bangladesh.

No matter how the international landscape changes, China will unswervingly keep to the direction of China-Bangladesh friendship and always be a trustworthy good friend, good neighbor and good partner of Bangladesh, he said.

Noting that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Xi said that looking back at history, the Party united and led the Chinese people to successfully embark on the Chinese path to modernization by persevering in independence and self-reliance, and firmly holding the destiny of national development and progress in its own hands.

Xi said China supports Bangladesh in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and opposes external interference.

China is willing to work with Bangladesh to enhance exchanges of experience in governance, strengthen exchanges at all levels, deepen strategic communication, increase political mutual trust, and continue to support each other on issues concerning core interests and major concerns, he said.

Xi said China stays committed to fostering an amicable, secure and prosperous neighborhood and the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, and constantly brings new opportunities and new impetus to its neighboring countries with its new development.

China supports the new government of Bangladesh in its smooth administration, and stands ready to carry out high-quality Belt and Road cooperation with Bangladesh, deeply align development strategies, and exchange development experiences with the country, Xi said.

China is willing to map out key cooperation with Bangladesh and tap into the potential for collaboration in green and low-carbon development, digital economy, information technology, artificial intelligence and other fields, carry out exchanges in healthcare, culture, education and sub-national affairs, promote the buildings of the China-Myanmar-Bangladesh Economic Corridor, and strengthen regional connectivity, he said.

Xi said China is willing to enhance communication and collaboration with Bangladesh within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations to jointly promote an equal and orderly multi-polar world and inclusive economic globalization, and better safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of China and Bangladesh as well as the common interests of the Global South.

Rahman congratulated the CPC on its 105th founding anniversary, saying that China is a great country and has always played an important role in Bangladesh's foreign policy.

Hailing China as a cherished and trustworthy partner of Bangladesh, Rahman said he is pleased that bilateral relations have been upgraded to the new level of the Bangladesh-China community with a shared future in the new era.

Under the strong leadership of President Xi, China has made great achievements in development, and the Chinese modernization serves as a model for Bangladesh to learn from, he said.

Rahman said Bangladesh hopes to enhance inter-party exchanges with China and work with the country to advance Belt and Road cooperation and conduct close cooperation and exchanges in areas of economy and trade, connectivity, agriculture, science and technology, green energy, education and health, to help Bangladesh achieve modernization.

Bangladesh firmly adheres to the one-China principle, views Taiwan as an inseparable part of China's territory, opposes any form of Taiwan secession, and resolutely defends the authority of UN General Assembly Resolution 2758, he said.

Rahman said President Xi's vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and four global initiatives carry great significance to safeguarding world peace and development and international fairness and justice, and have won Bangladesh's full support.

Bangladesh is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China in international and regional affairs, and jointly defend the victorious outcomes of World War II and the international order with the United Nations at its core, said the prime minister.
