Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday sent a message of condolences to Venezuelan acting President Delcy Rodriguez over the strong earthquakes that rocked the country on Wednesday.
Upon learning that the powerful earthquakes have caused heavy casualties and significant property losses, Xi, on behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, mourned those killed in the earthquakes and expressed sincere sympathy to the bereaved families and those injured.
China, Xi said, stands ready to provide assistance to Venezuela in disaster relief and reconstruction.
He also expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Venezuelan government, the Venezuelan people will overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes at an early date.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Cambodian People's Party President and Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday.
Li said China is willing to deepen political mutual trust with Cambodia, forge stronger synergy between development strategies, and expand exchanges and cooperation in trade, infrastructure, agriculture, clean energy, digital economy and culture, so as to bring more benefits to the people of both countries.
In a turbulent and volatile world, China and Cambodia should stand firmly in solidarity, jointly tackle external risks and challenges, and safeguard the common interests of both countries, Li said.
Noting that Cambodia and China are ironclad friends, Hun Sen said the bilateral relations have entered a new stage of building an all-weather Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era.
Cambodia appreciates China for its long-standing valuable support and assistance, and is willing to strengthen practical cooperation with China in various fields, said Hun Sen.
