Russia said on Sunday that its forces continued their offensive in the Donetsk region over the past day, advancing in two key towns, while Ukraine reported launching long-range strikes on Russian oil refineries and military infrastructure.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said in its latest report that over the past 24 hours, its assault troops pushed further west in the Lyman area, seizing five positions and 59 buildings. In Konstantinovka, mopping-up operations continued in the southwestern part of the town, with 26 buildings taken under control in the past day.
Also on Sunday, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that its forces carried out overnight long-range strikes on Russian military and energy infrastructure, targeting two oil refineries, a railway bridge and an ammunition depot.
Meanwhile, Russian media quoted Alexei Likhachev, head of Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom, as saying that Ukrainian forces had launched more than 60 drone attacks on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and the nearby town of Energodar over the past 24 hours.
The plant, one of Europe's largest nuclear power stations, has been under Russian control since 2022 and has repeatedly come under fire, raising international concerns over nuclear safety.
