Typhoon Maysak made a second landfall on the coast of Quang Ninh Province in northern Vietnam on Saturday evening local time, causing widespread damage to multiple areas across the region.
Following its landfall, the storm inflicted extensive damage across Quang Ninh Province and other northern areas of Vietnam.
Strong winds snapped numerous trees and tore off metal roofs from many houses.
The typhoon also caused large-scale power outages and internet disruptions. Heavy rainfall accompanied the storm, with precipitation in some localized areas exceeding 350 millimeters, creating significant risks of flooding and landslides across many northern provinces.
According to forecasts from Vietnam's meteorological authorities, the intense rainfall brought by the typhoon is expected to continue for several days.
The Vietnamese government has already evacuated residents from coastal and mountainous areas deemed at risk.
Emergency repair teams are working to restore electricity and internet services in affected regions. All vessels in northern coastal areas have been ordered to return to port, and local residents are being urged to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.
