Video of a dramatic rescue in Beipiao City in northeast China's Liaoning Province on Saturday has gone viral online, with many praising the brave passers-by who are seen in the video saving a delivery rider from being swept away in raging floodwaters.

Delivery driver Li Jinhong can be seen being swept along by powerful currents when two drivers pull up, using their vehicles as barriers to stop her from being pushed further downstream.

"When I got to the intersection and tried to turn right, the water pushed me onto the other side of the road. I was stuck there a long time and felt like I couldn't hold on anymore, so I called 119 for help," said Li.

As she waited for rescuers, another delivery rider stopped to help her push her electric bike out of danger.

"We pushed it a few paces towards the curb, but that is where the current was fastest and deepest. The bike couldn't make it up," said Li.

The swirling current dragged the bike away, and Li lost her footing as the rushing water swept her down the road. At this critical moment, the two cars stopped in the current to protect her.

"I accelerated over and angled my car to try to block both the person and the bike," said driver Wang Ying.

"When you see something like that, there is no time to think. You just have to act fast and help," said Li Shujuan, the other driver.

Nearby barbecue shop staff, hearing cries for help, rushed out to join the rescue and eventually help Li Jinhong to dry land.

"In that moment when I was finally pulled to safety, I was so surprised and relieved. I was finally rescued. I'm truly grateful," said Li Jinhong.

Within less than two minutes, what could have been a disaster ended in relief, thanks to the intervention of ordinary residents risking their own safety to pull a stranger from danger.

Rescuers on Thursday stepped up their efforts to evacuate thousands of students stranded at a flood-hit education park in the city of Guigang, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region with powered pontoon bridges, after days of torrential rainfall inundated multiple schools there.

The flooding, triggered by torrential rain that began on Monday under the shadow of Typhoon Maysak, flooded parts of the education park, where several schools were severely affected.

By Thursday, floodwaters have reached the depths of 6 to 7 meters in the worst-hit areas, while even the shallowest sections left the ground floors of teaching buildings submerged.

Power and water supplies were cut off at multiple schools, and internet connectivity remained unstable, leaving more than 10,000 students stranded inside the education park.

Rescue teams have delivered emergency supplies, including drinking water, food and medicines, to the affected students.

Meanwhile, more than 40 professional and volunteer rescue teams have joined the relief operation, according to local authorities.

As of Thursday, an estimated 6,000 to 7,000 students still need to be evacuated, and rescue workers are planning to complete the evacuation later in the day by using powered pontoon bridges and rescue boats.
