U.S. dollar ticks down

The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, dropped 0.43 percent to 100.488 at 15:00. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1466 dollars from 1.1423 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.3536 dollars from 1.3382 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 162.05 Japanese yen, lower than 162.20 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.8047 Swiss francs from 0.8092 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.4043 Canadian dollars from 1.4067 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 9.5898 Swedish kronor from 9.6586 Swedish kronor.

The United States' military completed its latest wave of strikes against Iran at 21:00 (Eastern Time) on Wednesday, the U.S. Central Command said in a statement.

In the statement posted on social media, the command said it had struck Iranian command centers, air defense sites, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities.

Precision munitions were used to hit targets in multiple locations including Bandar Abbas, said the command.

Earlier in the day, the U.S. forces also launched strikes against Iran's coastal defense facilities and cruise missile sites on Greater Tunb Island, with the operation lasting 90 minutes, according to the command.
