Spain won its second FIFA World Cup, defeating Argentina 1-0 in a dramatic final on Sunday that ended in extra time.

The breakthrough came in the 106th minute when substitute Ferran Torres finished a swift counterattack with a powerful strike into the roof of the net. The victory returns Spain to football's summit, sixteen years after their first triumph in South Africa in 2010.

Before kickoff, thousands of fans packed Plaza Colon in Madrid, turning the square into a sea of red and yellow. The festive atmosphere was filled with music, activities, and nervous anticipation, as supporters across the country united in their desire for a second star.

"Because Spain doesn't make it to the final every day. My wish is 100 percent that we win, and if my grandma sees me on TV, she'll be over the moon," said Sofia Pullin, a Spanish fan.

"Today I hope Spain wins. I think it will be a tough, hard-fought match, but I still hope Spain comes out on top," said Juan Molina, another supporter.

After the tense match, celebrations erupted nationwide.

"It's crazy. Beating 'the GOAT' (the greatest of all time) doesn't happen every day. The atmosphere here is incredible. I don't even know where I am right now. I've loved every moment. It's a historic moment I'll never experience again," said Carlos Montero, a Spanish fan.

With this victory, Spain will proudly wear their second star at the next World Cup in 2030, when they will co-host the tournament alongside Portugal and Morocco.
