The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai attracted a wave of international professionals, with new digital trade deals marking a high-value path for China's AI industry.
Marcin Sternicki traveled all the way from Poland to this year's WAIC to experience the latest AI breakthroughs. He was particularly drawn to the innovative medical tech on display.
"Today, I am amazed by its innovation. What impresses me most is seeing AI evolve from single algorithms into comprehensive, multimodal and also intelligent software. And that is exactly the future I would like to bring to my colleagues to Europe, and also I would like to bring it to my patients," said Marcin Sternicki, founder of Stemed Medical Center in Poland.
Participants noted that since the beginning of this year, overseas expansion of AI is no longer just a company-level decision but has become a full-fledged industry movement. At the WAIC, Chinese companies showcased products that combine massive verified data assets, intelligent industry agents, and standardized scenarios. By leveraging cross-border computing power, they secured several overseas orders right on site.
"Our technology now supports document recognition in over 50 languages. We have a significant user base in India, Brazil, and the United States, with the fastest growth now in Italy, France, and Spain," said Guo Fengjun, director of Image Algorithm Research and Development at INTSIG, a leading artificial intelligence (AI) product company based in Shanghai.
"In addition to serving our domestic clients, we are increasingly focused on exporting computing power abroad. For example, we will be hosting a 'Token Overseas' event in Southeast Asia this November. Just now at the exhibition, we also secured an order from a factory in Thailand," said Yang Xuying, founder of Shanghai Fanshu Zhisuan Computing Power Technology Co., Ltd.
