Giant pandas show off fearless climbing ability as they tackle tree branches

A pair of giant pandas have been captured on camera showing off their impressive climbing ability as they bravely tackled tree branches at their conservation bases in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

The recently-released video captured the surprising agility and flexible movements of the adorable giant pandas as they maneuvered their way around the trees, showing no fear of heights whatsoever.

The videos, recorded in June and provided by the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP), showed two giant pandas, namely, Xin Qiao and Feng Ye, carefully crawling along the branches with their fluffy hind legs swaying loosely in the air.

The 2-year-old Qin Xiao now lives in the Dujiangyan section of the CCRCGP, while the three-year-old Feng Ye lives in the center's Bifengxia Base in Ya’an City.

The CCRCGP is a world-leading institution dedicated to the breeding and conservation of one of China's national treasures, the giant panda. The center has established a global platform for promoting international cooperation and exchanges involving 18 zoos from 16 countries and regions, 39 domestic animal breeding institutions, and over 10 scientific research institutes.

China on Friday completed the tunneling of the Caiyuanba Yangtze River Railway Tunnel, the country's first high-speed rail tunnel running under the Yangtze River.

The tunnel, stretching 11,942 meters in length, passes beneath urban roads, elevated bridges, existing rail lines and the river's main shipping channel. Its successful completion overcame significant geological and engineering challenges.

The progress marks a major milestone in the construction of the high-speed railway linking Chongqing Municipality in southwest China and the coastal city of Xiamen in east China's Fujian Province.

By linking the Chengdu-Chongqing, Chongqing-Xiamen and Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed rail lines, the tunnel enables the convergence of two major trunk routes, the Chongqing-Xiamen corridor and the Yangtze River corridor, in downtown Chongqing.

The project will further improve the city's high-speed rail network and promote regional connectivity and coordinated economic development, according to the railway authorities.
