China will take necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of its firms against U.S. suppression, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a press briefing in Beijing on Wednesday.
She made the statement in response to a media query regarding a recent U.S. ban on imports of foreign-made robots, including humanoid robots, a sector where China has a leading position.
"China has consistently and firmly opposed the U.S. practice of over-stretching the concept of national security to suppress Chinese companies. Protectionism will not enhance U.S. competitiveness; it will only harm the interests of U.S. companies and consumers. China will continue to take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises," Mao said.
