ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves activated catcher Sean Murphy from the 60-day injured list and shortstop Ha-Seong Kim from the 10-day IL on Tuesday.
Neither player was in the starting lineup against the Miami Marlins.
Murphy broke a finger on May 10 in his fourth game of the season. He missed the first month of the year recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. The veteran catcher hit .291 at Triple-A Gwinnett during a 15-game rehab stint. He will likely start against left-handers going forward, with Drake Baldwin moving to designated hitter in those games, according to Braves manager Walt Weiss.
Atlanta traded backup catcher Joey Bart to the Chicago White Sox at the deadline Monday, opening a spot for Murphy.
Kim was signed to a $20 million, one-year contract before the season but opened the year on the injured list following surgery on his right middle finger. He returned May 12 and batted just .068 as the team's primary starting shortstop for the next six weeks. He returned to the IL because of his finger, then rehabbed with Gwinnett and hit .216 in 16 games.
Weiss said rookie Jim Jarvis will remain the primary shortstop, and utility player Mauricio Dubón will be his backup.
The Braves designated shortstop Jorge Mateo for assignment Monday.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Washington Nationals All-Star outfielder James Wood was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday after suffering a left oblique strain while batting Monday night against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Wood had an MRI that showed a mild strain, Nationals manager Blake Butera said.
“Hopefully, this is a short-term thing for James,” Butera said of the IL stint.
The Nationals selected the contract of outfielder Andrew Pinckney from Triple-A Rochester.
The 23-year-old Wood is in his third big league season and made his second All-Star team last month. He is batting .265 with 30 homers and 73 RBIs and had played in all 114 games for Washington before Tuesday.
“Obviously, it’s not what you want to hear, but I feel like I’m in good hands here,” Wood said. “It’s tough not being able to be out there, but it’s just something to grow from.”
Wood felt discomfort on the final swing of his at-bat in the seventh inning Monday, when he grounded out. He said running and throwing felt OK, but swinging did not.
“I took a couple of swings, and I just wasn’t really comfortable,” he said.
Wood said he'll stay in shape while sidelined and work out as much as he can without irritating the muscle.
The Nationals had lost six straight entering Tuesday and were sellers at the trade deadline, parting with infielders Luis García Jr. and Curtis Mead and starting pitcher Foster Griffin.
