Oshkosh Defense and Marine Depot Maintenance Command Demonstrate Point-of-Need Manufacturing to Accelerate Readiness

OSHKOSH, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug 12, 2026--

Oshkosh Defense, an Oshkosh Corporation [NYSE: OSK] company, and Marine Depot Maintenance Command (MDMC) successfully demonstrated the ability to securely manufacture and deliver approved, mission-critical replacement parts at the point of need during Exercise Valiant Shield 2026, showcasing a new approach to sustainment that reduces dependence on vulnerable supply lines and helps keep tactical vehicles mission ready.

As military operations become increasingly distributed across the Indo-Pacific and other contested environments, the ability to rapidly produce approved replacement parts closer to where they are needed is becoming a critical readiness advantage. Rather than waiting for parts to move through lengthy and potentially contested logistics networks, digital manufacturing enables forces to restore equipment faster, reduce vehicle downtime, and sustain operations when traditional supply chains are challenged.

During Valiant Shield 2026, Oshkosh Defense supported MDMC and authorized manufacturer MadeHere in securely manufacturing an approved LVSR replacement part in Japan using the AdvMFG Hub Digital Sustainment Platform (DSP), a secure repository of approved digital part files that enables authorized users to manufacture replacement parts while allowing Oshkosh Defense to retain ownership of its intellectual property. The exercise also included production of the same approved replacement part at MDMC in Albany, Georgia, demonstrating how a common, secure digital manufacturing ecosystem can produce identical, configuration-controlled components across geographically dispersed locations.

Producing approved replacement parts at the point of need reduces reliance on long-distance transportation, shortens repair timelines, and increases operational resilience by enabling maintainers to restore vehicles to service without waiting for conventional supply chains.

The demonstration highlights how secure, configuration-controlled digital manufacturing enables rapid production of mission-critical, obsolete, or long-lead replacement parts while maintaining strict quality standards and intellectual property protection. By producing approved replacement parts at or near the point of need, the Marine Corps can reduce equipment downtime, improve operational readiness, strengthen supply chain resilience, and keep critical assets mission-ready in distributed and contested environments.

"Future conflicts will demand new approaches to sustainment, particularly in environments where traditional logistics networks may be constrained or contested," said Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer, Oshkosh Defense. "Secure digital manufacturing gives maintainers the ability to produce approved replacement parts closer to the point of need, reducing maintenance delays, improving operational resilience, and helping keep critical vehicles in the fight." By working alongside MDMC and partners including MadeHere, Oshkosh is helping advance a more resilient sustainment model for the U.S. Marine Corps.

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug 12, 2026--

Flashfood, the leading marketplace for surplus groceries, today released its 2025 Impact Report, The Future of Food Is Abundant. The report outlines Flashfood’s vision for a more resilient food system where fresh, nutritious food is more consistently affordable, available and abundant.

Our deeply connected global economy has led to an unstable food system, with weather, conflicts, tariffs, inflation, and politics driving the bulk of the volatility. Flashfood’s report makes the case that reducing food waste represents one of the most immediate opportunities to improve and stabilize food access. Rather than allowing $35 billion of fresh food to go to waste at grocery stores each year, Flashfood’s marketplace enables grocers to make surplus items available to shoppers at significant discounts.

"Food waste has always been considered an unavoidable cost of the grocery system. We want to make the case that it’s also one of the clearest opportunities to make that system stronger,” said Jordan Schenck, CEO of Flashfood. “When we use technology to recover surplus food, particularly the fresh food that makes up the lion's share of waste today, retailers recover value, shoppers get more affordable access to fresh groceries and communities become more resilient. That is the abundant food system we are building and we believe it will be the baseline, not the aspiration.”

In 2025, Flashfood delivered measurable impact across North America, helping shoppers save money while keeping quality food in circulation. Key highlights include:

The report also highlights early research at the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign that shows Flashfood is having a measurable impact on food insecurity in the communities it serves. A dissertation exploring the role of technology on the food supply chain found that, on average, one Flashfood store reduces a county-level food insecurity rate by 0.090 percentage points, translating to approximately 860 people per county — or an estimated 146,000 people across all counties where Flashfood operates.

Flashfood expanded its marketplace in 2025 through partnerships with retailers including Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic Division and Gelson’s Markets in Southern California. The company also continued investing in technology to help grocers post surplus inventory more quickly and efficiently, with plans to further expand its retail network and platform in the year ahead.
