Humanoid robot wins gold with 7.97-meter jump at 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games

A humanoid robot recorded an impressive 7.97-meter long jump at the second edition of the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing on Sunday, clinching the gold medal in the Long Jump final.

With a total of 21 teams participating in this event, only six recorded valid attempts.

The robot from Team Tianjiao made three jump attempts measuring 7.32 meters, 7.62 meters and 7.97 meters, which improved progressively.

"I think it's incredible. The level of artificial intelligence development is truly beyond my expectations," said Xiang Yike, a 12-year-old spectator.

The second World Humanoid Robot Games opened in Beijing on Saturday, with the participation of 666 teams and 2,056 robots from 16 countries.

The event, running through August 26, features 51 competitions and more than 1,300 matches.

The number of teams is up 138 percent from the inaugural Games in 2025.
