Top legislator meets head of Uzbek presidential administration

Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met with Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Uzbek Presidential Administration, in Beijing on Wednesday.

Zhao noted that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the strategic mutual trust between China and Uzbekistan has been further consolidated, practical cooperation has achieved fruitful results, and bilateral relations have been elevated to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for the new era.

China is willing to work with Uzbekistan to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen all-round mutually beneficial cooperation, and jointly build a China-Uzbekistan community with a shared future that is more substantial and dynamic, Zhao added.

China's NPC is willing to enhance friendly exchanges with the legislative bodies of Uzbekistan, deepen exchanges of experience in legislation and supervision, and contribute to the development and rejuvenation of each country, he said.

Mirziyoyeva congratulated the Communist Party of China on its 105th anniversary, saying that Uzbekistan adheres to the one-China principle, supports the four global initiatives proposed by China, and looks forward to strengthening friendly exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries and deepening cooperation in areas of economy, transportation, education and counter-terrorism.

⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠A Chinese mainland spokeswoman on Wednesday refuted rumors spread by a Taiwan TV program that Beijing has no refrigerators, and called on Taiwanese compatriots to visit the mainland to see the truth for themselves. Responding to the rumors, Zhang Han, a spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said such remarks are utterly detached from reality and nothing but a laughable stunt.

"The DPP (Democratic Progressive Party) authorities have been restricting and obstructing cross-strait exchanges, deliberately creating an 'information cocoon' on the island in an attempt to block the people in Taiwan from learning about the mainland. Their intentions are malicious. We welcome Taiwan people to break through these barriers, come over to the mainland more often, and see for themselves the real and lovely mainland," Zhang said.
