Japan's policymakers should listen to and take seriously the rational voices within their own country, and earnestly reflect on and correct their mistakes, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press briefing in Beijing on Thursday.
Lin was responding to a media inquiry on a meeting between a vice minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and visiting Japanese lawmakers on Thursday.
"The root cause of the current severe difficulties in China-Japan relations lies in a series of erroneous remarks and actions by the Japanese ruling authorities concerning China's Taiwan and military security. Japanese policymakers should listen to and take seriously the rational voices within their own country, earnestly reflect on and correct their mistakes, strictly abide by the principles set forth in the four political documents between China and Japan, and take concrete actions to safeguard the political foundation of bilateral ties," said Lin.
