International big data industry expo to open in southwest China's Guizhou Province

The China International Big Data Industry Expo 2026 is set to open in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province on Friday. All preparations for the three-day event have been completed, according to the National Data Administration, the expo's host.

The expo will feature an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge achievements across five sections: computing infrastructure, data supply, model-driven development, data security, and intelligent experience.

It will also feature pavilions for guest of honor provinces, an exhibition zone for digital and intelligent integration of cultural, sports, tourism and commercial industries, an international data exchanges zone, and a new embodied artificial intelligence experience zone.

"The China International Big Data Industry Expo 2026 focuses on the supporting role of token in the value realization of data elements. So far, more than 16,000 guests have registered, and 372 domestic and foreign companies have confirmed their participation. We will also hold 89 events, including supply and demand matchmaking and exchange events, and will release 87 important achievements," said Zhang Yan, an official of the National Data Administration.

The administration will also release a set of industry standards and collections of exemplary practices during the event.

China's intelligent computing capacity has reached 2.4 million PFlops, with eight national computing hubs accounting for more than 80 percent of the total. As of June, China had built more than 120,000 high-quality datasets with a combined volume exceeding 1,565 petabytes.

China's Zhejiang Province and Shanghai have ramped up preparations as Typhoon Saudel advances toward the country's eastern coastline.

In response to the potential wind and rain impacts of Saudel, the 18th typhoon of the year, coastal areas of Ningbo in Zhejiang activated the highest typhoon emergency response starting at 18:00 Wednesday.

As part of the response, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in Zhejiang has evacuated 55 large container vessels, with all terminals suspending operations.

In Shanghai's Chongming District, ferry services were fully suspended on Thursday.

Shanghai's flood control department began coordinating hydraulic hubs on Tuesday to discharge water and free up storage capacity ahead of the storm.
