Another area of discussion was maxillary expansion in pediatric Class II cases. The session emphasized case-specific assessment, including transverse development, arch form, and occlusal relationships, when determining whether expansion should form part of a treatment plan.
Treatment timing was also addressed. Discussions focused on how orthodontic evaluation during active growth enables clinicians to assess evolving dentofacial relationships and to make evidence-informed decisions—such as continued monitoring, initiation of early intervention, or specialist referral - based on the patient's specific clinical presentation.

On October 24, the World Young Scientist Summit 2026 opened in Wenzhou, Zhejiang. The event is hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, and the World Association of Young Scientists.
