Egyptian observers said they are expecting to strengthen cooperation with China across a wide range of fields as the two countries celebrate their comprehensive strategic partnership and work together towards a better shared future.
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on Wednesday in Cairo as part of his state visit to the country.
After the meeting, the two heads of state witnessed the signing of cooperation documents in various fields, including AI, supply chain, trade, digital economy, and education.
"We highly appreciate President Xi's willingness to continue cooperation with Egypt in the next phase, and to further promote bilateral cooperative relations in all fields, including cooperation areas that have come up and continued to develop in the recent years, such as high technology, robotics applications, artificial intelligence, and other related fields. We look forward to introducing more and richer Chinese experiences to Egypt, and to further strengthening our partnership with China in the future," said Ali El-Hefny, vice chairman at the Egypt-China Friendship Association.
"His focus is not limited to China, he (President Xi) also attaches great importance to cooperation among the Global South countries. He emphasized building a future-oriented China-Egypt community with a shared future, reflecting his vision for the future development of bilateral relations. We hope that cooperation between China and Egypt will become stronger and more thriving, bringing benefits to the people of both countries," said Khaled El-Shamy, editor-in-chief of the international affairs department at the daily newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm.
Ahmed Sallam, former undersecretary of Egypt's State Information Service, also underscored China's efforts to build a more inclusive and fairer global governance mechanism.
"The proposals put forward by President Xi are innovative and of great significance. Egypt and the rest of the world should attach great importance to these proposals, because they aim to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, rather than benefiting only one country while others are left out. China consistently strives to promote shared benefits for all parties and pays particular attention to the interests of developing countries and African countries," he said.
Hala Gad, director of information and documentation at the Office of Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, said Xi's visit demonstrates that China-Egypt ties will keep developing against the backdrop of growing global turmoil.
"We are currently in a new world order, and the international system faces many instabilities and significant challenges. Therefore, at this moment, we expect President Xi to further support the development of China-Egypt relations and the continuous advancement of China-Arab and China-Africa relations. President Xi's choice to visit Egypt for the second time strongly proves that this is a historic visit. This demonstrates that President Xi and China fully recognize the importance of Egypt and its core and crucial role in maintaining regional security. This is not only related to regional security but also to the security of the entire world. We attach great importance to this visit and have high expectations for it," she said.
