Fatal traffic accident in North Point
Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident happened in North Point today (September 5) in which a man died.
Police received a report at 10.37am that a private car driven by a 54-year-old man was travelling along Island Eastern Corridor westbound. When approaching the North Point Ferry Concourse Promenade, it suspectedly lost control and collided with a private car driven by a 44-year-old man and another private car.
Sustaining no superficial injury, the 54-year-old private car driver was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 12.08pm on the same day.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is underway.

CCIDA participates in Hong Kong Week 2026@Chengdu
The Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) under the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau organised and sponsored three programmes in the Hong Kong Week 2026@Chengdu, including the film programme "Making Waves – Navigators of Hong Kong Cinema", the "Hong Kong Toy Culture and IP Exhibition", and "Vertical Labyrinth: The Enchanted Dense-scapeExhibition". All three programmes will run for nine days from today (September 5) to September 13.
Organised by the Hong Kong Brand Toy Association and sponsored by CCIDA, the "Hong Kong Toy Culture and IP Exhibition" features more than 40 Hong Kong brands and original art toys, and a range of activities aimed at fostering the cooperation between the industries in Chengdu and Hong Kong. Seven Hong Kong original art toy designers have drawn on their own intellectual properties to create new exhibits that incorporate diverse kung fu elements, demonstrating the infinite creativity and potential for cross-disciplinary collaboration of Hong Kong design.
Also held on the same day was the opening ceremony of the "Making Waves - Navigators of Hong Kong Cinema", a film programme organised by CCIDA, co-organised by the Broadway Cinematheque and supported by the Hong Kong Film Archive of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). Centered around the theme of "Sports and Passion", the programme features nine Hong Kong films at two cinema complexes in Chengdu.
Another programme sponsored by CCIDA, the "Vertical Labyrinth: The Enchanted Dense-scapeExhibition", is organised by the Hong Kong Interior Design Association. The Exhibition features around 30 pieces of award winning Hong Kong furniture works, showcasing the unique aesthetic that blends Chinese and Western elements.
