Border defense forces from China, Russia and Mongolia held their second joint exercise from Wednesday to Thursday.
The exercise, code-named "Border Defense Cooperation 2026," included training in joint planning, joint searches, coordinated strikes and arrests, and the joint handover of suspects.
With the command post located within the Russian territory, the exercise stimulated a response to "terrorists" who were fleeing and crossed the border from Russian territory towards China and Mongolia.
The Russian side dispatched helicopters for air strikes to disperse them, while the Mongolian side leveraged its geographical advantages to block the escape routes of the inbound "terrorists." Meanwhile, after the Chinese drone combat team discovered the targets, the participating officers and soldiers tried to expel them through oral and flashing warnings. As the "terrorists" put up a desperate struggle and fired shots, the assault team, under the cover of drone fire, quickly approached the target building in an all-terrain assault vehicle and broke into the room to arrest them.
"In this drill, a variety of modern, unmanned and intelligent border control measures were adopted to form a comprehensive and three-dimensional encirclement of the 'terrorists'," said Army Major Yuan Gaoming, a Chinese officer participating in the drill.
At last, the border forces from the three sides worked in close coordination to follow the relevant agreements on border control to carry out the identity verification of the involved ones and the signing of handover documents earnestly and smoothly.
