ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Gunner Stockton passed for three touchdowns, Nate Frazier ran for three scores and No. 3 Georgia overwhelmed Tennessee State 63-3 on Saturday.
The temperature was 101 degrees at kickoff and the heat likely was a factor in some fans leaving Sanford Stadium at the end of the first quarter when the Bulldogs already led 28-0.
Georgia (1-0) scored touchdowns on its first five possessions, all with Stockton at quarterback. Frazier scored on a 48-yard run on his first carry and added a 14-yard touchdown run on his second carry.
Stockton completed 15 of 16 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns.
Georgia backup quarterback Ryan Puglisi led two touchdown drives, the first capped by Frazier's 3-yard scoring run, to open the second half. Frazier ran for 72 yards on only four carries.
The Bulldogs' third quarterback, Ryan Montgomery, threw a 54-yard scoring pass to Jeremy Bell. A fourth quarterback, Hezekiah Millender, led a touchdown drive capped by Jae Lamar's 11-yard run.
A severe weather advisory was posted on the scoreboard late in the third quarter, warning fans that lightning was detected within 15 miles of the stadium. There was no delay but few fans remained for the end of the game.
Tennessee State: After trailing 35-0, the Tigers (0-2) finally put together a scoring drive late in the first half. Preston Hurless capped a 14-play, 55-yard drive by kicking a 37-yard field goal. Tennessee State was held to 10 rushing yards on 30 carries. Daylin Lee completed 11 of 19 passes for 62 yards.
Georgia: The Bulldogs showed off their depth and talent at tight end. Jaden Reddell, Elyiss Williams and freshman Kaiden Prothro had touchdown catches. The 6-foot-7 Williams showed his athleticism by diving over a tackler on his 17-yard scoring catch. Reddell had a 14-yard touchdown catch and added a powerful 29-yard run. Puglisi threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Prothro.
Tennessee State will play at Alabama A&M next Saturday night.
Georgia will debut its all-white alternate uniform when it plays at home against Western Kentucky next Saturday.

Lautaro Martínez struck a second goal in injury time to complete Inter Milan’s 3-2 comeback win over title rival Napoli in Serie A on Saturday, while Jamal Musiala returned to the field for Bayern Munich in a scoreless draw with Schalke.
Musiala played his first minutes in the Bundesliga this season after the Bayern midfielder had collapsed in two preseason games because of a neurological issue which causes seizures.
In Spain, Athletic Bilbao struck three times in the second half to beat Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid 3-0 in La Liga, while Erling Haaland led Manchester City to another victory in the Premier League.
It was a night of comebacks in Serie A, with Roma joining Inter with a dramatic two-goal rally in the dying minutes that kept the teams at the top of the standings with three wins in as many rounds.
Martínez’s goals ensured that Inter kept up its early title defense.
Napoli looked to be comfortably in charge after Matteo Politano and Rasmus Højlund scored in the 50th and 53rd minutes.
But Martínez pulled one back three minutes later and Marcus Thurman equalized in the 82nd just moments after hitting the post.
Martínez found the winner after Manuel Akanji scrambled a loose ball to him at the far post to poke home, unleashing celebrations at San Siro.
Napoli, under new coach Massimiliano Allegri, has now lost two in a row after falling to Como.
Next up for Inter is a trip to Real Madrid in their Champions League opener on Tuesday.
Matías Soulé led Roma with a late assist and goal to beat Atalanta 2-1.
The forward set up Mario Hermoso in the 90th, canceling out the opener by Éderson. Soulé then struck three minutes into stoppage time to grab the victory.
Torino beat Fiorentina 2-1 away.
Musiala went on as a second-half substitute in Bayern's 0-0 draw with Schalke. He had missed the season opener against Stuttgart.
It was the first time Bayern had failed to score in a German league game since February 2025. A superb performance by goalkeeper Loris Karius helped Schalke take its first point against Bayern since 2017.
Small-town club Elversberg continued a dream start to its first-ever Bundesliga season with another upset win, beating Borussia Moenchengladbach 4-3 with a stoppage-time winner.
From a town of just 13,000 people, Elversberg stunned another former champion after its win over Bayer Leverkusen last week.
This time, Elversberg did it without coach Vincent Wagner, who was sent off at halftime, only for Maurice Krattenmacher to score the dramatic late winner.
Also, Borussia Dortmund pulled off a fightback to beat Hoffenheim 3-2 after being two goals down, as Hoffenheim defender Albian Hajdari handed Dortmund victory with an 86th-minute own goal.
Another of Bayern’s title rivals, Leipzig, slumped to a 3-1 loss at Werder Bremen, whose new signing Niclas Füllkrug scored a goal.
Leverkusen’s new coach Carles Martinez got his first Bundesliga win, beating Union Berlin 4-0.
Erling Haaland scored his third goal of the season as Manchester City beat Coventry 1-0 to stay at the top of the Premier League with nine points from three games.
Promoted Hull is second and still unbeaten on seven points after a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa.
Tottenham picked up its first point of the season with a 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest, and Newcastle remained unbeaten under new coach Matthias Jaissle thanks to a late equalizer from Jacob Ramsey in a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.
Crystal Palace twice came back against Fulham to eventually win 3-2 at Craven Cottage for its first points of the campaign while Brighton drew 1-1 with Leeds.
Brentford and Sunderland also drew 1-1.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it four goals in as many games since joining Deportivo to help the promoted club remain unbeaten since its return to the top flight.
The 37-year-old Aubameyang struck in the 88th to clinch a 3-2 victory at Villarreal.
Athletic Bilbao rolled over Atletico Madrid 3-0 with second-half goals from Nico Williams, Robert Navarro and Oihan Sancet.
It was a second straight win for Athletic under its new German coach Edin Terzić.
Also, Sergio Camello netted twice to lead Rayo Vallecano to a 3-2 victory over Racing Santander.
The game between Utrecht and Go Ahead Eagles in the Dutch top tier was abandoned after some Utrecht fans threw fireworks and other objects onto the pitch. The match was eventually abandoned in the second half with Go Ahead Eagles leading 3-1 at the time.
Utrecht issued a statement condemning the actions of the fans responsible, saying it will review video footage and take action against those involved.
Also in the Eredivisie, PSV Eindhoven won 3-1 at Ajax.
Lens, last season’s runner-up in Ligue 1, had a second straight loss after falling 1-0 at home to Lorient.
Brest beat Le Havre 2-1, and Nice drew with Le Mans 1-1.
