China's STAR Composite Index closes lower Wednesday

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 0.79 percent lower at 1,865.29 points on Wednesday.

The STAR 50 Index, which tracks the 50 largest stocks listed on the board that also meet certain liquidity requirements, closed 0.69 percent lower at 1,580.06 points.

The sci-tech innovation board, commonly known as the STAR Market, was inaugurated in June 2019 at Shanghai Stock Exchange. It is designed to support companies in the high-tech and strategic emerging sectors.

The stocks of the Republic of Korea (ROK) closed lower on Thursday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) dropped 177.97 points, or 2.62 percent, to close at 6,625.93 points, and the tech-heavy KOSDAQ Index lost 6.16 points, or 0.69 percent, to finish at 892.27 points.
