Multiple U.S. military aircraft were damaged in overnight Iranian strikes from Tuesday to Wednesday local time on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, CBS News reported on Wednesday.

Citing people with direct knowledge of the matter, CBS News said that "roughly eight F-15s sustained light damage and were reportedly placed back into service, according to the people familiar with the damage."

One A-10 Thunderbolt, known as the Warthog, was struck and was missing a wing, and no U.S. deaths have been reported in Iran's strikes on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, the report said.

The strikes came after the U.S. said Tuesday it attacked five Iranian tankers in retaliation for Iran targeting a U.S. Navy warship.

"U.S. forces in Jordan launched more than 30 Patriot missiles defending against the Iranian strikes in Jordan," CBS News said.

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said Wednesday that its aerospace forces had targeted a U.S. air base in Jordan in retaliation for the "aggressive" attacks by the United States against Iranian oil tankers.

The IRGC said in a statement that it struck a hangar for the maintenance, repair and deployment of the U.S. Army's F-35, F-16 and F-15 fighter jets and a shelter for the U.S. fighter aircraft at the Al-Azraq Air Base, "inflicting heavy damage on the enemy."

Panama declared a state of emergency on Saturday to coordinate relief efforts and assist communities affected by a powerful earthquake that struck the country Friday.

The 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck Panama at 12:56 local time Friday, with its epicenter about 39 km northwest of Tonosi in Los Santos province, damaging homes, schools, health facilities, roads and public buildings across several parts of the country.

The quake has left 27 people injured as of present, according to Panama's National Civil Protection System.

Presidency Minister Juan Carlos Orillac told a press conference at the presidential palace that the declaration would ensure government agencies remain on standby and have the resources needed to assist those affected.

Orillac said President Jose Raul Mulino had ordered the creation of a commission to coordinate relief operations, manage resources and address the needs of affected communities.

The government has also set up donation collection centers, including one at Omar Park in Panama City, while provincial government offices will serve as additional collection points, he said.

Panamanian authorities continue to assess the damage and coordinate emergency response efforts.
