Launching at ESCRS in London, the world's first bitoric hydrophobic monofocal intraocular lens with a non-constant asphericity profile design expands the ZEISS LUCIA Family to treat cataracts while simultaneously correcting astigmatism.

JENA, Germany, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- ZEISS Medical Technology announced today the commercial availability of the ZEISS AT LUCIA toric 721P, the world's first hydrophobic monofocal toric intraocular lens (IOL) with a bitoric optic combined with a unique asphericity design. The LUCIA® from ZEISS is the only hydrophobic monofocal IOL family featuring a non-constant asphericity profile design (ZEISS Optic). Built to perform independently of individual eye conditions, the ZEISS LUCIA Family takes into account variations in pupil size, corneal spherical aberration, and natural lens position to offer consistent, reliable outcomes in real‑world conditions.

Officially launching at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) congress in London from Sept. 11 – 14, the ZEISS AT LUCIA toric 721P IOL is CE marked and now commercially available in select European countries, including Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and France.

"ZEISS once again demonstrates to the market our expertise in optics with a huge leap forward for our IOL offerings. Our broader portfolio will provide surgeons around the world with more options to reach a higher level of patient satisfaction," says Andreas Völker, Head of the Ophthalmology Strategic Business Unit, ZEISS Medical Technology.

"Providing high reliability and proven lens platform stability, the ZEISS AT LUCIA toric 721P is a game changer, enabling surgeons to elevate their astigmatism management workflow," says Frank Seitzinger, Head of Business Sector Surgery Anterior Segment, ZEISS Medical Technology.

At ESCRS, ZEISS will mark the launch of its new ZEISS AT LUCIA toric 721P IOL with a celebration in the ZEISS booth C.100 in the South Event Hall on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM BST. Attendees will hear from surgeons who participated in early clinical evaluations with the IOL and who will share first-hand insights from their use. Participating surgeons include Prof. Gerd Auffarth from Heidelberg University Hospital (Germany), Dr. Andrea Janeková from Eye Centre Prague (Czech Republic), Dr. Amin Kassem from Värnamo Ögoncenter (Sweden), Dr. Fayyaz Musa from The Eye Doctor Clinic (UK), Dr. Helena Noguera from Miranza COI (Spain), Dr. Felix Rombold from Südblick Augenzentren (Germany), and Prof. Sathish Srinivasan from Ayrshire Eye Clinic (UK), who are also receiving the "ZEISS AT LUCIA toric Pioneer Award" for their pioneering role in adopting the new IOL technology.

ZEISS announces commercial availability of bitoric hydrophobic monofocal IOL - the ZEISS AT LUCIA toric 721P

BANGKOK, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Central Pattana celebrates the first anniversary of Central Park Shopping Centre (Central Park Bangkok), marking a significant milestone for its world-class retail destination in the heart of Bangkok and unveiling its next ambition: "Bangkok's World Stage" - positioning Central Park Bangkok as a global platform that connects Bangkok with international brands, creativity, culture and audiences. In its first year, Central Park Bangkok welcomed more than 25 million visits, including over 10 million visits from international tourists, placing the destination among the top-tier performers in Central Pattana's portfolio.

Located at the strategic intersection of Silom–Rama IV, overlooking Lumpini Park, Central Park Bangkok was conceived as a destination shaped specifically for Bangkok. Its first year has demonstrated the potential of next-generation retail to go beyond shopping by bringing together new-to-market concepts, cultural experiences, world-class design and the everyday lifestyles of the city's people.

Central Park Bangkok's success is driven by three key strategies. Curated Newness introduces global firsts, exclusive concepts and new formats, creating reasons to visit and return. A People-led Cultural Stage draws on the surrounding neighbourhood, connecting brands, artists and creative platforms to create cultural moments. Design for Bangkok combines global design expertise with the context of Silom, Rama IV and Lumpini Park, creating a world-class destination with a distinct Bangkok identity.

Building on its first-year momentum, Central Park Bangkok is moving forward through three global directions: Global Firsts, bringing international brands, artists and experiences to Bangkok; Global Culture, creating a stage for art, music, design and cross-cultural creativity; and Global Audience, connecting with international visitors, global creators and partners while strengthening Central Park Bangkok's role as Bangkok's World Stage, representing contemporary Bangkok and Thailand to the world.

Central Park Shopping Centre is part of Dusit Central Park, a fully integrated mixed-use development combining retail, offices, hotel, residences and more than seven rai of urban green space. Together, these components create an ecosystem where work, living, hospitality, leisure and city life converge.

With "Bangkok's World Stage," Central Park Bangkok's next chapter extends beyond the success of a retail destination. Its ambition is to create a platform where the world can experience Bangkok - and where Bangkok's creativity, culture and contemporary lifestyle can connect with the world.
