The U.S. military has forced 96 commercial vessels to change course in the Gulf region as it enforces its blockade of Iranian ports, according to a social media post on Thursday from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
The post said that a U.S. Navy MH-60R Seahawk helicopter had launched from the flight deck of the USS Rafael Peralta as part of the U.S. blockade against Iran, adding that over 50 humanitarian aid vessels had been allowed to pass through the blockade.
Following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb 28, Tehran restricted passage through the Strait of Hormuz, while U.S. forces imposed a naval blockade targeting vessels traveling to or from Iranian ports and coastal areas.
