The Hong Kong, China Tennis Association (“HKCTA”) announced today the return of the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open (“PHKTO”). The prestigious tournament will be held at the iconic Victoria Park Tennis Centre Court (“VPTCC”) from 31 October to 8 November, 2026. Prudential will return as the title sponsor of the tournament, giving fans the opportunity to witness, up close, the superb skills of world-class tennis superstars.

Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open is proud of being an“M” Mark event that helps enhance the image of Hong Kong as Asia’s sports event capital. The“M” Mark is awarded by the Major Sports Events Committee, symbolising intense, spectacular and signature events in the territory sports calendar.

Three-time Tournament of the Year, PHKTO Attracts Influx of Next Gen Stars
PHKTO is the last stop on the WTA regular tour and part of the China Tennis Season. The event is a three-time winner of the WTA 250 Tournament of the Year Award - in 2018, 2024, and 2025.
Since its debut, PHKTO has earned a strong reputation for catalysing the growth of tennis in Asia and serving a unique platform for many outstanding Next Gen players to the upper echelons of the WTA Tour.
Following her first appearance at last year’s PHKTO, Eala has taken the tennis world by storm. The 21-year-old is currently at her best ever world ranking of 18.
The left-hander said,“I am having the best season of my life and can’t wait to get onto the Asian swing to thank my fans there for the support. I cannot think of a better place to finish my season than the vibrant city of Hong Kong.”
Diana Shnaider was already one of the rapid risers in the women’s game when she won PHKTO 2024 as a 20-year-old. Since then, she has firmly established herself as one of the top singles players in the world after a string of sensational results, highlighted by a win in Monterrey last year.
Shnaider commented,“Winning the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open in 2024 was one of the proudest moments of my career so far. I am sorry I didn’t get to defend my title last year, because I qualified for the doubles tournament at the WTA Finals, but this just means I am even more motivated to try and regain my title in Hong Kong - and see all of my fans there - again this year.”

China number one Wang Xinyu will be making her third appearance at PHKTO. The 25-year-old has reached the last 16 in singles in three of the four Grand Slams, including at the 2026 Australian Open, a result that helped put her in the world’s top 30 for the very first time.
The Shenzhen native said,“I have great memories of playing at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open. I love the convenience of Hong Kong, and that I can just walk between my hotel and the tournament venue, everything is so easy and the fans are so friendly.”

PHKTO will welcome Spaniard Paula Badosa for the first time this year. The 28-year-old reached number two in the world rankings in April 2022. Injuries saw her fall outside the world’s top 100, but the courageous Badosa fought back strongly in 2024 to return to the world’s top 10 and winning WTA Comeback Player of the Year 2024 for her heroics.
Badosa said,“I am super excited to be playing at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open for the first time. I have heard so many great things and I know it has been WTA’s Tournament of the Year a number of times, so I want to experience it for myself.”

Eudice Chong Ready to Face World’s Best on Home Soil
Eudice Chong has been the flag bearer of Hong Kong tennis for much of the past decade, and she has secured a place in the doubles main draw of PHKTO 2026 by virtue of her top 60 ranking. She holds the record for the most tennis titles across different tiers of the Tour in Hong Kong history. She made history earlier this year as the first Hong Kong player to become a WTA doubles champion at the Morocco Open.
Chong commented,“The Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open has given me so much over the years. The tournament has played an important part in my development as a tennis player, and as a person. I had my first WTA Tour singles win last year at Victoria Park, and it was amazing playing doubles with Cody Wong in front of the home crowd. Hong Kong’s Brightest Young Hopes Offered Coveted Wildcards
Two of the city’s best next gen stars Adithya Karunaratne and Yandy Shek will be offered singles wildcards for the opportunity to compete against the best in the world at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2026.
With a career high ranking of 278, 24-year-old Karunaratne has captured five ITF titles, and multiple Under-18 ITF junior circuit titles across different continents.
Shek made her tournament debut for Team Hong Kong at this year’s Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group II, and delivered a flawless, undefeated 5-0 record at No. 1 singles, leading the team to a promotion back into Asia/Oceania Group I for 2027. The 21-year-old Shek won her maiden professional title last year at ITF W15 Hong Kong when she partnered China’s Zhang Ying to capture the doubles crown.

Artist Fang Lijun Make PHKTO Debut
Highlighting this year’s showcase, Chinese contemporary artist Fang Lijun brings a striking eco-friendly artwork to the Tournament Village. Crafted from plastics, fibers and metals collected from beaches, this art piece brings a new dimension to his iconic bald motif.
Fang is globally renowned for his iconic surrealist paintings featuring“bald-headed”figures. In July of this year, he collaborated with Lalique, the Official Trophy Sponsor of PHKTO, to create crystal artworks“Yawning Man 2.0”. Lalique is a world-famous French crystal brand established in 1888 that has served as the trophy sponsor for PHKTO since 2016.
